Fire-Rated Glass

This type of glass is commonly used in exit areas of an establishment to allow a safe exit. Over time, fire resistant glass products that met both functional and aesthetic objectives were continuously sought. Products that offer transparency, safety, beauty and numerous design features have now been achieved.

At the beginning, reinforced glass was used as fire resistant glass even though it did not fully comply with the required safety standards against impacts. Fire protection was more important than its lack of resistance to impacts, however, due to the injuries that occurred over time, a product resistant to impacts and fire was achieved.

Fire protection means that the glass prevents the spread of smoke and flames within the glass's own time period (this can vary) as well as preventing heat transfer. Transparent fire resistant glass products are composed of multilaminates with several layers of glass containing intumescent interlayers or a gel filled insulating glass unit.

In OkcGlass we have the experience and products you need to fight against fire.
